About
I do stuff…
The Hobby
Photography
I’ve been into photography since the turn of the millennium, and even better, have concentrated on night time photography, specifically with Architecture. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to sell some of my work, but only rarely - and only a year ago, I started to showcase it publicly on the web. I just tried to keep my work to myself, and keep it as a hobby as much as possible, for as long as possible. That didn’t work out all that well though.
The Job
Newland Communities - Online Marketing Director
Responsible for 40 some odd sites, used to market master planned communities that are scattered about the United States. One of the most awesome projects we’re working on is Union Park in Las Vegas, a nifty redevelopment of an urban kind… We also do a ton of stuff revolving around Green Living, or as we’ve been known to call it “Sustainability”.
The Company
Aten Syndicate - Co-Owner, Marketing
This is a freelance gig, we (myself and Dan Tentler) started this little ad-hoc business in late 2006. Online marketing, systems architecture, security, and all around business-technology stuff is our focus. We’re bendy when it comes to what we can do. We’ve been plugging and chugging away at ideas here and there, hit and miss, and just getting things done in terms of networking within the California tech community, specifically within WordCamp, BarCamp and local meet-ups.
The Other Company
TACT - Co-owner, Technologist/Designer
This little do-dad of a semi-existing company is pretty much… something I do for fun. TACT throws parties, we don’t even advertise we’re doing it for TACT, nor do we advertise the parties… very often anyway. We did an official event last summer, and have weirdly done about 9 others since, that simply just happened. Oh, and we design t-shirts, but haven’t really done much with that yet. I’m pretty sure this blockquote will get updated this year, sometime, maybe, perhaps.
Sociosophy
Sociosophy: The exploration of the vast Social Arena and the write ups to go with. This dandy little site is home to some 80 website reviews (and counting) as well as a little on-going development for The Job, where we’re just now beginning to wander into the unknown and mysterious world of online public relations via bloggery.
Fillosophy
Fillosophy: A while back I started down the path of giving strong opinions on a Wordpress blog site, about relationships, politics, and society in general. The premise of Fillosophy is to use the typical critical thinking methodologies used in philosophical arguments/discussions, and leverage them to deliver impacting points of view on topics most people wouldn’t typically associate with brash commentary… well, in this way anyhow. Weirdly enough, the site ended up just looking like a bunch of crying about how crappy things are though. Still a good read.
